The brother of a dear client, John Namkung, was recently in Ukraine working with an aid organization, Caritas Ukraine, who deliveres food shipments to shelters in western Ukraine. He is currently raising funds to purchase a used Mercedes Benz handicap van to evacuate physically disabled individuals from western and southern Ukraine. When I was in Ukraine, I volunteered with another aid organization, Caritas Ukraine, and delivered food shipments to shelters in western Ukraine. I was extremely impressed with this organization. They are shipping tons of food, medicine and other supplies to the most dangerous areas of Ukraine. I received an urgent request for $20,000 to buy a used Mercedes Benz handicap van to evacuate physically disabled individuals from western and southern Ukraine. As you know, Russia has started a major offensive in those regions, so a handicap accessible van is crucial.
Type of Wood Charities has agreed to be the intermediary and transfer all new donations to Caritas Ukraine, as Caritas Ukraine is not registered as a US aid organization.
I know many of you contributed to my original GoFundMe campaign when I went to Poland and Ukraine, and I am very grateful for your generosity. I am reluctant to ask again so soon after the first request, but the urgency of the dire situation for physically disabled people compels me to ask again.
